Active Duty Requirements. The eligibility requirements for joining the armed forces can differ between branches. Knowing the requirements can help you avoid wasting time and effort. Enlisting: Enlisted members do the hands-on work of the military. They need at least a high school degree (a GED may or may not suffice). You must (with very few exceptions) have a high school diploma. You must pass a physical medical exam.
Educational Requirements. Success in any branch of the Military depends on a good education, and a high school diploma is most desirable. Candidates with a GED (General Education Development certificate) can enlist, but some Services may limit opportunities.
Still, few organizations have annual requirements that even approach these numbers. In addition to the magnitude of these personnel requirements, the military services also confront a complex system of legal and policy constraints that exclude a substantial proportion of potential recruits from enlisting (see Appendix 2-A
Enlisted Soldiers carry out orders and complete missions. As an enlisted Soldier, you will be challenged to accomplish tasks that will put your abilities to the test.
